The right sensor depends less on the spec sheet and more on where it will live and what decision its data needs to support.

Accuracy where it matters

For comfort control, plus or minus half a degree is plenty. For pharmaceutical storage or laboratories, look for calibrated sensors with a certificate and a clear drift specification.

Placement beats precision

A precise sensor next to a supply diffuser or a sunny window will still report the wrong number. Mount at occupant height, away from direct airflow, heat sources and exterior walls.

Battery life and connectivity

Wireless sensors with multi-year batteries remove the cost of running cables. Check that the radio reaches the gateway through the building's walls before committing to a layout.
